Two types of low-surface-brightness galaxy (Sculptor-type objects and dwarf irregulars and spirals of the DDO type) occurring in several nearby groups and clusters are compared with respect to size, luminosity, and population. The spheroidal Sculptor-type galaxies may have been formed from DDO galaxies whose interstellar gas has been stripped away by the intergalactic medium.
