The paper surveys a program established at the Erwin W. Fick Observatory to monitor radial velocities of long-period variable stars. Discussion covers the use of a Griffin-type coude radial-velocity spectrometer equipped with specially designed compound masks capable of measuring both absorption and emission velocities. Attention is given to a summary of the first year's observations of three stars, T Cephei, Chi Cyg, and Mira. These were observed at near maximum light and the velocities obtained were found to be consistent with values in the literature. Finally, it is noted that the system appears to be an effective means of monitoring velocity fluctuations on time scales ranging from one hour to several months.
