The intensities of the recombination lines of the O III ion are calculated, and determinations are made of the individual contributions of the recombination and fluorescence mechanisms to the intensities of the O III lines observed in the spectra of planetary nebulae. The calculated intensity ratios of the O III ion lines are found to be in good agreement with the observed intensities, once the contribution of fluorescence has been isolated.
