It is hypothesized that the number of different types of neutrinos may be related to the dimensionality of the space. This relationship is illustrated by a model of a four-dimensional relativistic oscillator which is an element of a relativistic string. It is shown that the total number of different neutrinos may vary from three to five (depending on the model), in agreement with astrophysical data.
