The space-time distribution of a gas injected into the upper atmosphere is constructed on the basis of an analytical study of the Boltzmann equation. Cases of instantaneous and continuous injection from an arbitrary moving source are examined. It is noted that the results obtained can be used to determine gas concentration in active experiments, involving the injection of chemically reactive gases (capable of forming regions of low electron density) into the F-layer.
