Scientific paper

A multifunctional videosystem for operational astronomic observations in the visible and rear infrared range is proposed, with application to manned orbiting stations. Requirements for the system architecture are discussed, in addition to techniques for onboard real-time data compression and videoprocessing. It is noted that complexing of the present system with routine astronomical instruments and modules will provide onboard solutions for problems such as gamma-burst patrolling in the optical range and those involved with statistical photometry.
