Questions concerning the statistical significance of the changes of smoothed time series of the latitude gradients B/A and C/A, determined by Hejna (1985), (A, B and C being the coefficients which occur in the relation for differential rotation), are discussed. A model computer experiment is used to prove that these changes can be considered statistically significant.
