The role of photoevaporation on gaseous globules was shortly ago presented as a possible new mode of star formation (SF) in NGC 6611. In this paper we study this process by the distribution of the population of young stars and strong near-IR sources in the field of NGC 6611. We show that the locations of these sources do not coincide with those of the EGGs, but are found in regions shielded from the photoevaporation by the surrounding clouds. We therefore conclude that SF in NGC 6611 takes place at the other side of dark clouds to where the EGGs can be found.
