Results of the photographic photometry of galaxies in compact groups are presented. The luminosity function of these groups is found to be similar to the luminosity functions of field galaxies and cluster galaxies. Spiral galaxies are shown to predominate among the brightest galaxies of the compact groups. Despite the high spatial density of the galaxies, cases of galaxy merging in compact groups are few; on 54 plates of the 6-m telescope only one case of merging was found.
