The paper examines the capability of the Stellar X-ray Polarimeter, a focal plane instrument of the SODART telescope, to detect linear polarization in the X-ray emission of some bright AGN. The SXRP Thomson Scattering Polarimeter (TSP), which covers the 5-20 keV energy band, is shown to be capable of detecting a polarization as small as about 2 percent in Centaurus A. The minimum detectable polarization (MDP) is shown for the TSP at the 99-percent confidence level for a power law spectrum with a photon index of 1.7, a typical value for Seyfert-like AGN, and the values of MDP are summarized for the brightest emission-line AGN (Cen A, NGC 4151, and 3C 273.
