The existing methods of determining the angle beta between the magnetic field and the rotation axis in a pulsar are reviewed critically. More accurate estimates for this angle are obtained from the observed widths of the profiles for 282 pulsars and from the observed variation of the position angle for 63 pulsars. Polarization data and data on the shape of the profiles are used to calculate the angle beta for pulsars with interpulses: for five pulsars, beta is small (less than 10 deg) and for three beta about 90 deg. Some pulsars with small beta and with beta about 90 deg for which interpulses and interpulse radiation might be detected are listed.
