The present volume on recent advances in high energy astronomy discusses results of two years of observations with SIGMA on board GRANAT, initial results from OSSE at the Compton Observatory, gamma-ray burst observations, and temporal structures in gamma-ray bursts. Attention is given to the duration vs intensity diagram for a subset of PHEBUS gamma-ray bursts, SIGMA observations of extragalactic sources, the diffuse Galactic emission at 511 keV and 1809 keV, diffuse Galactic annihilation radiation, and massive stars as Galactic producers of Al-26. Topics addressed include X-rays and gamma rays from the Galactic Center, observations of the Galactic center with the TTM instrument, an analysis of nuclear gamma-ray line profiles of SN 1987A, and a theoretical prediction of gamma rays from SN 1991 T. Also discussed are optical observations of high energy sources, hard X-rays from binaries, SIGMA observations of the X-ray nova in Musca, and gamma rays from 'hidden' millisecond pulsars.
