The texture and the mineral chemistry of Fuc Bin, a stony meteorite that fell near the Fuc Bin village in Vietnam in July 1971, are described. On the basis of optical microscopy, SEM, and electron probe microanalyses, the Fuc Bin meteorite is classified as an L5 chondrite that contains olivine (Fa(23.6)), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs(20.3)Wo(1.3), high-Ca pyroxene (Fs(7.5)Wo(44.2)), plagioclase (Ab(83.8)Or5), chlorapatite, merrillite, and opaque minerals including chromite, troilite, kamacite, taenite, tetrataenite, and native copper.
