MEASUREMENTS of the chemical composition of cosmic rays1 have
shown that for most elements the abundances roughly correspond to their
universal abundances. I wish to point out here that some systematic
differences occur in the low energy range, which are correlated with the
first ionization potentials of the corresponding elements.
