Results of lmm broadband observations of five H2 regions were used in conjunction with measurements made nominally at 350 microns to establish a mean spectral index in the submillimeter region. Because of the relatively weak flux reaching the detector in this region, wide pass-boards are generally used for these observations. It is known that this presents problems both in calibration and in determination of the mean wavelength of observation. In particular, atmospheric conditions have a considerable effect on observation around 350 microns. Taking these effects into account, the submillimeter spectral index of the regions observed is believed to be about 3. A very simple dust emission model for the sources is also considered, and a temperature is estimated for the dust. This makes it possible to estimate the total dust mass which, for a source of spectral index 3, is independent of grain size.
