On November 28 2002 the Unified Meteorological Archive and Retrieval
Facility (U-MARF) became operational. Archiving nearly 60 GB/day, and
the capacity to retrieve a further 200 GB/day. This paper is intended to
give an overview and status of the first 18 months of operations, as
well as providing an insight into the future evolution of the U-MARF.
