The first order analytical theory was applied to a series of ground observations of the Martian satellites made from 1877 to 1986 as well as to Mariner 9 and Viking TV observations. The orbital elements determined from ground observations are confronted with those from spacecraft observations. The secular acceleration of Phobos is found with high reliability. An estimation of accuracy of the areoequatorial coordinates of the satellites for 1989 is given.
