The absorption-line spectrum of PKS 0528-250 reveals the presence of molecular hydrogen H2 in the zA = 2.81 system. The authors have made an estimate of the gas density and the mass of the absorbing material of about 20 cm-3 and 104M_sun;, respectively. Broad Lα profile in the absorption system corresponds to N(H I) = 2.4×1021cm-2. This leads to an upper limit of the optical depth of the redshifted H I 21 cm of about τ ⪉ 0.05.
