Spectra of R Cyg obtained near the rather faint maxima of 1983 and 1984 again showed an emission spectrum characteristic of faint maxima. For R Andromedae, similar emission lines were seen in 1983 and 1984 though the maxima were actually brighter than average. An analysis of the emission lines of Ti I and Zr I seen during the 1983 cycle of R Cyg indicates an excitation temperature of 2470 K and a Zr/Ti abundance ratio enhanced over the solar ratio by 1.15 dex.
