From visual observations made between 1971 and 1986 the linear portion of the phase curve for (1) Ceres is described by the relationship V (1, a)=3.64 (+/- 0.23) + 0.037 (+/- 0.010)a for phase angles, a between 7 degrees and 54 degrees. The amplitude of variation derived photometrically was 0.04 +/- 0.005 magnitudes. The B - V index was 0.72 +/- 0.015 magnitudes.
