The paper discusses problems and methods of determining the integral density of plasmaspheric electrons by means of the radio-beacon technique; the reception of ATS-6 signals at Neustrelitz, Germany (35 deg E) is considered as an example. It is shown that it is possible to increase the accuracy of determining the integral electron density of the ionosphere by means of the Faraday rotation of the polarization plane by allowing for variations of F2-layer height in the averaged weighting function of the geomagnetic field. If variations of F2-layer height are not taken into account in this weighting function, the inaccuracy in the determination of the integral electron density can reach a value of 20 percent.
