An experimental 3 mm SIS-mixer with high performance was analyzed with a computer simulation program. The embedding circuit parameters in the mixer were determined by making scaled model measurements at lower microwave frequencies with a network analyzer. The measurement results were transfered to an equivalent circuit which was used in the computer calculations. Computer simulations show that the compensation of the SIS junction capacitance with a microstrip stub improves the mixer performance and broadens its bandwidth. This is in good qualitative agreement with the experimental data.
