Observed properties of stellar winds that are explained using magnetic rotator models yield estimates of angular velocities and magnetic field strengths in such stars. To check the consistency of such estimates, with constraints of interior theory, the authors have used magnetohydrodynamic considerations to derive upper and lower bounds for the surface magnetic field. These bounds would be applicable to stars with a radiative envelope in which the magnetic field across the surface in the equatorial region is anchored in the interior and is stiff enough to produce an angular momentum driven wind. The formulae for the bounds are applied to rapidly rotating Be stars and Wolf-Rayet type stars using Eddington-Vogt speeds relevant for the radiative diffusion zone.
