Einstein Observatory data which support the power-law relation between the X-ray luminosity and the velocity dispersion proposed by Solinger and Tucker for rich clusters of galaxies are discussed. Investigation of the red shifts of individual clusters reveals that the power law relation is strongly altered when divided into two subgroups with different red shifts. It is concluded that, due to the small samples statistics and selection effects, it is not possible to draw definite conclusions as to the nature of physical processes in the intergalactic plasma from the observed index of the Solinger and Tucker relation.
