Polarization-sensitive VLBI observations of 3C 454.3 at a radio wavelength of 13 cm with a synthesized beam of dimension 0.006 arcsec x 0.002 arcsec disclosed a small core with a jet emerging to the southeast and extending about 0.01 arcsec from the core. Near the core, the electric field vector is well ordered and nearly parallel to the jet axis, but it rotates with distance such that, far from the core, the electric field vector is nearly perpendicular to the jet axis. This rotation may signify a transition of the radio emission from being optically thick to being optically thin as the distance from the core increases. The jet also has a weakly polarized bright knot about 0.006 arcsec east of the core which contains either a disordered magnetic field or considerable thermal plasma or both.
