The mission of the space probe Voyager 1 led to the discovery of an intense volcanism on Io, - the first galilean satellite of Jupiter -, and of infrared radiation by associated hot spots. Several methods are possible to use in order to continue the observations from Earth. One of those, the occultation method, provides a high accuracy for the localization of these thermal sources. This paper presents the possibility of such observations during a favorable occurrence in 1991.
