An analytic formula for the temperature dependence of the rate coefficients for the excitation of H2O and H2CO by collisions with He, as given in tabular form by Green (1980) and Green et al. (1978), has been derived. The individually determined values for the constant characterizing the dependence of the individual transitions on the kinetic temperature can be approximated in order to reduce the number of parameters. Although this approximation provides an acceptable fit for most of the transitions, the errors become large for some of the ortho-H2O transitions which involve higher lying levels.
