The author introduces a new powerful means to determine the orbital periods of symbiotic stars. It is based on orbital modulation of the H-alpha line profile. It is very useful for fainter symbiotic stars, for which H-alpha emission is the only spectral feature generally observable at high resolution with intermediate size telescopes. The results of this new technique are presented for 443 Her and AS 338.
