The preparatory part of this paper deals with radiative transfer in a homogeneous spherical cloud with isotropic scattering and an arbitrary optical depth r along the radius. The main part derives the terms proportional to r-1 which form the asymptotic corrections to the reflection against and diffusion into a semi-infinite medium. The asymptotic form of the input-output function is expressed by means of a linear differential operator L with respect to μ, the cosine of the angle of incidence or emergence.
