A model for describing Cygnus A is proposed which uses only classical hydrodynamics, and a self-consistent theory for determining the physical parameters of the plasma inside hot spots and of the jet powering them is proposed. The results indicate that the correlation between VLBI jets and large scale structure radio jets is a consequence of the presence of ultrarelativistic electrons in the VLBI jets. These electrons can be reaccelerated by the weak oblique shock waves along the large-scale radio jet.
