The evolution of planetary atmospheres was studied. It was suggested that a planet's atmosphere depends upon the composition of the primary matter from which the planet is formed. The evolution of the atmosphere of any heavenly body is the result of plutonic chemical processes. While small bodies become planets, larger ones become stars due to the initiation of thermonuclear reactions at their cores. Mars is believed to be thickly coated with carbon dioxide and nitrogen dioxide which have frozen and fallen out of the atmosphere. The earth's atmosphere is contrasted with the atmospheres of its neighbors with respect to the molecular oxygen and nitrogen content. Natural regenerative processes in the earth's atmosphere are currently being disturbed by human activity. At some point in the future artificial regenerative measures may be required.
