Ultraviolet spectrograms of thousands of faint stars (up to 13th mag.) are analyzed which were obtained between 2000 and 5000 A by means of the Orion-2 space observatory aboard Soyuz 13. The primary purpose of the observations was to study the continuous spectra of stars in the UV region. Some of the results obtained include: (1) agreement between theoretical predictions and the observed distribution of continuum UV energy in normal hot stars, (2) the discovery of a class of high-temperature stars with low absolute luminosities, (3) confirmation of the blocking effect of UV absorption lines expected for A-type stars, (4) detection of the blocking effect of emission lines in the spectra of Be and normal O-type stars, and (5) the derivation of some empirical regularities concerning the behavior of the Mg II doublet at 2800 A. A technique is developed for the spectral classification of stars according to their UV spectral images.
