The implications of the existence of fast and slow corrugation waves in a galactic gas disc for the wind-up of warps is considered. The propagation of corrugation wavefronts is calculated using the pattern velocities derived from a local approximation dispersion relation, and it is shown that slow corrugation waves may exhibit persistent open tilts and warps in certain regions of a galaxy.
