Photoelectric and photographic B V photometry and DDO photometry of NGC 3960 and NGC 5823 are used to derive color-magnitude diagrams, distances, reddenings, and metallicities of the two clusters. NGC 3960 is a Hyades-age cluster with (m - M )0 = 11.1 ± 0.2, E(B - V) = 0.29 ± 0.02, and [Fe/H] = - 0.30 ± 0.06, while NGC 5823 is a somewhat younger, sparsely populated cluster with (m - M)0 = 10.5 ± 0.3, E(B - V) ∼0.5, and [Fe/H] = - 0.1 ± 0.2 (assuming the red giants in the field are members). NGC 5823 is unlikely to be associated with the nearby cluster NGC 5822.
