Multicolor lightcurves of three W UMa systems are solved using the Wilson-Devinney computer code, modified in order to run on a medium-size minicomputer. The solution confirms the contact hypothesis for these systems, one of which (AQ Tuc) has turned out to be of Binnendijk's A-type (deeper minimum resulting from the eclipse of the more massive star) and the other two (AE Phe and 44 i Boo) of W type. A comparison is made with previous solutions. The main features of such systems are considered to be (1) a small degree of contact and (2) the fact that the less massive star is hotter than the companion.
