Monochromatic images obtained with an image photon counting system intended for use on a 3.6 m telescope are presented. The images were obtained through narrow bandpass interference filters centered on H-alpha, N II forbidden line 6584 A, and at a continuum wavelength of 6040 A. The detector was placed at the F/15 Cassegrain focus of a 193 cm telescope, and led to the detection of a double ring structure in the vicinity of the purported nucleus at the center of the nearest Sc galaxy, M33 (NGC 598), which had previously been too faint to study.
