Stellar Evolution: Supernovae, Supernovae: Progenitors

Scientific paper

This paper describes calculations for a grid of presupernovae models, progenitors of type II and probably type Ib supernovae, by following the evolution of complete stars beyond the carbon-burning stage. These computations are performed in the context of the grids of evolutionary models for solar composition from 0.85 to 120 Msun by Maeder and Meynet. The models are based on up-to-date basic astrophysical data regarding initial chemical composition, stellar opacities including molecular opacities at low temperatures, nuclear reaction rates, neutrino loss rates, recent mass loss rates and an appropriate overshooting parameter for convective cores based on observational comparisons.
