Total intensity and polarization observations at 4.6, 4.75, 4.9 and 8.4 GHz are presented. Results of these observations support the hypothesis that G5.4-1.2 (Milne 56) is a shell SNR with a high degree of polarization, a well-defined magnetic field, rather high values of Faraday rotation measure, and a very flat spectral index (-0.16). While the SNR may not be of 'a new class of nonthermal radio source' (Becker and Helfand, 1985), it is considered to be an unusual SNR. One of the most unusual features of G5.4-1.2 is the discontinuity in the extremely high rotation measure inside the shell.
