The band-limited magnetic anomalies of the Pacific plate subducting
along the Kuril-Kamchatka trench were mapped using MAGSAT data. Using
these data and a thermal evolution model of the oceanic lithosphere
subducted along the trench, an effective magnetic susceptibility of
0.0085 SI was estimated for the upper 35 km of the oceanic upper mantle.
