A theoretical study of solar wind flow about the earth magnetosphere in the magnetic barrier region is presented. An analytical solution of the asymptotic (with respect to the Mach-Alfven number) equations describing the magnetic barrier structure is obtained for the vicinity of the stagnation point. Variations of MHD parameters near the magnetic barrier are studied, and a comparison is made with the numerical solution.
