In the present reconsideration of the energy balance in the Narain and Kumar (1986) treatment of the solar corona, the sun is considered as a nonrotating and magnetic fieldless sphere. Radiative losses and mechanical energy deposition are ignored, and coronal heating is assumed to be at the base of the corona which conducts through the region. The treatment of solar corona energy balance developed invokes the Levine (1974) theory of coronal heating.
