The origin of the Galactic IR/submillimeter radiation and the nature of the heating sources of interstellar dust were investigated using IRAS data together with data of earlier studies. Results are presented on the Galactic disk radiation and the contribution from small dust particles. Contour plots of spatial distributions of IR radiation obtained for the Galaxy are compared with those for several external galaxies detected by IRAS.
