The paper describes the continuous formation and expansion of CN shells
in the coma of Comet P/Halley which was observed between February 17 and
April 17, 1986. While the shells are spherical, they are sometimes
modified by an elliptic distortion. Their expansion velocity decreases
with increasing heliocentric distance from 1.6 to 0.7 km/s.
