Seasonal manifestations of the electron-temperature increase effect in the main ionospheric trough (MIT) at the level of the F-layer are investigated. Calculations based on a hydrodynamic model of the convective high-latitude ionosphere show that peaks of electron temperature at certain points of the MIT can form due to internal processes even when heat fluxes from the magnetosphere to the ionosphere are absent not only at the equinox but also in other seasons. These peaks appear to be most marked in the winter and weakest in the summer.
