An analysis is made of a number of solar proton events in which two components of relativistic protons were observed: an anisotropic fast component (FC) and an isotropic slow component. FC emission spectra are obtained for the events of 23 Feb. 1956 and 16 Feb. 1984. It is shown that these spectra agree with a model of a source situated in the field-line reconnection region of a magnetic bottle and a neighboring magnetic arcade. The particle acceleration is accomplished via pulsed electric fields associated with current-sheet discontinuity in the reconnection region.
