It is shown that inverse Compton scattering of X-ray photons by monoenergetic PeV electrons in the extreme Klein-Nishina limit produces PeV gamma-ray emission in Cyg X-3 and similar-type objects with high efficiency, avoiding the simultaneous generation of lower energy gamma-rays. To obtain equal power per decade of energy in PeV and X-ray photons, a PeV electron density of 2000/cu cm is required which can be provided by the rotating neutron star in Cyg X-3.
