Projected sky coordinates are provided for Halley's Comet in December-January 1985 and April-May 1986 to aid in sighting efforts. The dimness of the present appearance will cause easy obscuration by moonglow, light pollution and atmospheric effects. The best viewing will be with, at minimum, binoculars. Black and white 400ISO or 1000ISO film is recommended for attempts at photography with 35 mm cameras. A 4400 A blue filter and exposures ranging from 1/60th-3 sec are also suggested, although some film speeds may require exposures as long as 20 min.
