A description of the white-light coronagraph for, and the scientific goals of the experiment on, the KORONAS-I satellite, is presented. The observations in the solar corona are to range from 2.2 to 10.0 solar radii, and the resolving power is 76 arcsec. The experiment is to address the questions of coronal heating, the plasma flowing in coronal rays, and solar-terrestrial interrelations.
