Deep images of the central parsec region of the Galaxy have been obtained at an effective wavelength of 980 nm in the Gunn Z band. Probable far-red counterparts of 11 previously known infrared sources are detected, including IRS 7. The present data allow a coregistration of optical, infrared, and radio sources together with optical astrometric stars. Since a high precision absolute astrometric grid in the region is not available, the radio position of the nonthermal compact source Sgr A* cannot be placed into the optical and infrared maps with uncertainties of less than about 0.7 and 1.17 arcsec. Two additional starlike sources, named GZ A and GZ B, have been revealed behind the seeing disk of the Z = 17.6 mag foreground star IRR 1. The angular separations of these objects from the nominal position of Sgr A* are 0.77 and 1.17. GZ A therefore is the closest (in projection) nonradio source to the fiducial center of our Galaxy known to date. Its brightness at 980 nm of about 21 mag is consistent with it being either a luminous blue stellar source or the optical radiation from an accretion disk around a black hole, obscured by 30 mag of visual extinction.
