The Cosmic Origins Spectrograph (COS) is a new ultra-violet instrument for the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) that will be installed in 2003. In preparation for COS, two systems have been developed: ``Target Acquisition Analysis for the Cosmic Origins Spectrograph (TAACOS)" and ``COS Evaluation and Data Archive (CEDAR)". TAACOS simulates the Target Acquisition (TA) algorithms currently baselined for COS. As TA for COS uses ``dispersed light", a new mode for HST, simulating the TA algorithms requires simulating the spectra at the detector for a variety of optical configurations, target locations within the apertures, and various types of astrophysical and calibration spectra. To produce simulated detector images, a complete ray-trace model of HST+COS has been developed for TAACOS. CEDAR provides ``quick look" analysis for COS science data, memory dump data and diagnostic data. These tools are used during the Flight Software development and testing. Software is based on existing ``ACSVU" code, and existing ``FUSE Display". Code reuse for this system is near 50
